NHS Club Rush
DT, North Torrance High, D19S
North High’s Club Rush was this past month and our Key Club eagerly advertised Key Club as a great way to earn volunteer hours, gain valuable leadership experience and opportunities, make new friends, see character growth, and develop important skills useful in life such as customer service, communication, delegation, and much more! We mostly targeted underclassmen and encouraged them to join but we also explained the benefits of Key Club to upperclassmen as well such as opportunities for scholarships/grants, etc. At our table at Club Rush, we had set up QR codes and had some of our board members walk around our school’s quad with signs promoting Key Club and had an interest form for students to fill out in order to sign-up. We also had a handmade Key Club “photo frame” made by one of our board members, Cori Kowach, and had student pose and take photos with it!
NHS Long Beach Marathon
DT, North Torrance High, D19S
Volunteers helped set up and prepare for the Long Beach Marathon Expo the day before the race. Volunteers also got to run booths at the expo and hand the runners their numbers, the marathon T-shirts, and passes for the race. This event was very rewarding as members gained valuable customer service experience. “I really enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun volunteering and I would like to do something similar again. Overall it was a great experience because we were able to help many people prepare for the marathon.”
AIDS Walk
RS, D19N
Division 19 North decided to attend the AIDS Walk on October 16! We created a graphic that consisted of bus information and items to bring. This was a Region event, so many people signed up and we cannot wait to attend!
October DCM
SF, Brooklyn Anderson, D18
This October has been very exciting for Key Club! Back in August, there was a DCM where lots of fellow key-clubbers got to know each other. It started off with icebreaker games, and at the end the members colored pictures for a local nursing home to cheer up the elderly.
