Field Day Interclub
RL, Mills Key Club, D34N
Our interclub event with Sequoia was a huge success. For service we were able to create DIY Bears for the Children’s Research Foundation. We also held a water balloon fundraiser and collected donations for dares. There were a variety of activities like tug-of-war, bunny-hop and three-legged races, along with limbo. It was a very lovely experience to all work together for a good cause and get to know new individuals who also share the passion of helping the community.
Yerba Beuna Rock Painting
EL, Yerba Beuna, D12S
Rock Painting with Our City Forest was SO SWAG!!! This event took place at the nursery, so everything was really pretty. We were greeted with examples of past painted rocks, and one of them was Shrek so that was probably an inspiration for many. We got to sit with our friends and paint as well as paintbrushes were provided. Then, we wandered around the nursery to look for smooth rocks to paint on. I, including many, painted a Minion on my rock. Overall, this event was super relaxing and fun, and it was a great bonding experience!!
Roseville Movie Night
BL, Roseville, D44W
In the month of September, Roseville Key Club hosted a Key Club 101 and movie night social event in which new members were given the opportunity to meet their board, learn more about Key Club, watch a movie with their friends, and participate in a small service event by coloring in Color a Smile pages to be sent to local hospitals and seniors. About forty members participated in the event, and we were able to collect over a hundred Color a Smile papers. Pizza, candy, and soda were also sold to raise funds for the Pediatric Trauma Program, and we were able to raise approximately $60 total. Many members came with their friends and were able to socialize and meet their fellow Key Clubbers as well. Members seemed to show a lot of interest in the prospect of another movie night in the future, so this event was a great success! We are planning another movie night for the month of October due to the event’s popularity among our members!
Region Training Conference
JC, Stagg, D27S
There’s no reason to be shy about it; workshops at RTC filled up fast. This may have been frustrating for some, but not for Roy Juarez. After he and a large group of Koi Fish were told that all the workshops had already been filled, and they had to make the long trek back to the gym, Roy took the division's paper and guided everyone ahead. With his signature bucket hat on, he did so in style.
Duck Race
TP, D38W
Quack-eriffic job to D38W Key Club in leading the volunteer effort for the Kiwanis Antelope Valley Rubber Duck Race!
Last week at DryTown, around sixty Key Clubbers from Quartz Hill, Highland, SOAR, Pete Knight, AVHS, Littlerock, and Desert Sands assisted in preparing for the race.
Key Clubbers showed up on Day 1 to help tag and clean ducks from 3PM-6PM. On Day 2, from 4PM-9PM, volunteers sold duck merchandise, posed in pictures as in a duck costume, and distributed the rubber ducks themselves into the Lazy River! After releasing ~15,787 ducks for the races, our team waded through the river and collected them to be reused for future races.
