Color Crash DCM
BD, Troy, D30N
On September 16th, our Troy Key Club members participated in the Division 30 North September Color Crash DCM. This took place at La Mirada Regional Park in the afternoon from 3 to 5 pm. The DCM provided fun social activities and service projects for service hours to all participants. Everyone got doused in colored powder throughout the event and by the end all their clothes were plastered in different colors. They had such a good time and got to meet so many new people from other schools in the Division 30 North branch. The Color Crash DCM was a great event to socialize and have fun with one another while still completing small service projects to help the community and earn service hours. It was definitely a one of a kind experience for us and our members can not wait for the next DCM.
Oceanside Civic Center Library
SH, El Camino, D37W
As classes begin to have a kick the deeper we get into the semester, it’s always important to take some time to destress and stay in tune with your mental health. A great way to find tranquility in all the chaos is to visit your local library. Grab a coffee, check out a book you’ve always wanted to read, or stroll down shelves and find a cover that catches your eye.
However, this public resource involves a lot of dedication and hard work by the people behind the scenes, who make this oasis of stories possible. Acknowledging this, El Camino Key Club decided to lend a helping hand. Every first Saturday of the month, we offer a volunteer opportunity at Oceanside Civic Center Library for a group of Key Clubbers to come and participate in housekeeping tasks such as shelving books, wiping down desks, etc. It’s a great, productive way to kick off your weekend, and a MAJOR help to everyone who utilizes the library. Thank you to everyone who came in September! <3
Greek Food Festival
RA, Desert Oasis, D28S
I went and worked the booths with kids from other high schools and my friend Malorie. We had a lot of fun selling pastries and helping out everyone there. It was very hard to learn the names and titles of the specific packs and cookies but it gave me more in-depth knowledge of what I’m selling and why people enjoy these desserts so much. I had a lot of touching moments when certain customers mentioned how these cookies and pastries reminded them of what their grandmas and moms used to make. It reminded me of how important food is to Greek culture and how lucky I was to be experiencing this in real-time.

During the month of September, Redlands Club also held their second meeting of the school year! In this meeting, we went more in-depth about the Fall Rally and why we do it! We informed individuals of specific dates of spirit sessions as well as Fall Rally merch deadlines. With the provision of candy & a positive environment, Key Club continues to grow as more students on campus learn about it!
Hike Cleanup
HL, RCHS, D15N
On September 30th, Rancho’s Key Club held one of their most popular events of the year, our hike clean-up! This exciting event took place at the North Etiwanda Preserve at 8 A.M. Despite having to wake up at an earlier time, we had a large number of enthusiastic key clubbers show up ready to make our community a better place! Whilst picking up trash, key club members were also able to observe how beautiful the trail and its surrounding nature was. Even with the amazing views we had, it was definitely still a difficult walk considering how steep and rocky the trail was. Nevertheless, the tough hike up the preserve was completely worth it once we made it to the waterfall! The waterfall was an absolute reward for our key clubbers as we got to explore nature and take in the amazing views we had. Overall, even though the hike was challenging, the entire experience was wonderful and we are so glad to have had the opportunity to make our community a better place whilst making everlasting memories!
