Carnival Service Project
JL, Buena Park, D30N
Our club volunteered and helped out the Kiwanis Club of Cypress with grilling and serving burgers and hotdogs at Landell Elementary School for their annual carnival! The event took place on June 10th and we made over 400 burgers and hotdogs for the many hungry students and parents at the event. We ended up raising over $1000 which all went to Landell Elementary School to help fund their various school events, activities, camps, and more. It was a really fun experience as we gained connections with the Kiwanis members helping out as well as hands-on experience with a fast-paced and demanding work environment
Bolsa Grande x La Quinta Board Social
TT, La Quinta, D04N
The board social with BGKC was really fun and memorable. We kicked off the social with some kayaking in Huntington Harbor where each LQ officer was randomly paired with a BG officer to be in the same boat. I was matched with someone I had never met, but through the trials and obstacles that we overcame together, I got to know my partner better and quickly became friends with them. For the second round of kayaking, I was with a new partner, yet we were unfortunately just as slow as I was in the first round so we kept falling behind everyone else. Luckily, the social was not a race, thus we just took our time and had a relaxing kayaking session. From all the hard exercises we did by rowing those boats, everyone was tired and hungry by the end. Being by the beach made it very convenient to find a tasty and nearby restaurant where we ate some juicy burgers and creamy ice cream bars. Some of us also walked a quarter mile to the ocean, and I had another meal...of saltwater. The water temperature was super pleasant, and there was a nice breeze as we played in the water, took pictures, and relaxed on beach blankets on the warm sand. During this social, I was not only able to have fun and hang out with my peers, but I was also able to meet new friends and establish a greater sense of inclusivity and belonging in Key Club. I'm extremely eager to attend upcoming socials, and I hope to see and meet some new faces there in the future.
Beach Clean Up
TN, University, D04C
University Key Club hosted a beach cleanup at Newport Beach Pier 7. We had around seventeen Key Club members participate that morning. For around 2 hours, members walked across the beaches picking up trash in reusable bags to minimize plastic consumption. Many members traveled in pairs or small groups with their friends with board members overseeing them around the beach. Members found a multitude of interesting items, including a toothbrush, undergarments, and mini soldier figurines that piqued their interest. Some members even collected seashells as they came across them. Several people on the beach acknowledged our service as they cheered us on or clapped. At the end, we pooled all the trash together in one large trash bag to dispose of and took a group picture to document the service event. Overall, beach cleanups prove to be one of our popular events once again due to the naturally lively environment and aspect of discovery.
Selling Ribbon Leis
JS, River Valley High School, D14
To end the school year, River Valley Key Club made and sold candy and ribbon leis to our graduating seniors. Our key clubbers spent time making the leis, adding their own special touches to each lei! Then during graduation, several members were able to sell them out! Profits were also sent to PTP!

This photo is from the Woodward Park cleanup on Saturday, June 24. We walked on the Woodward Park trails and picked up trash along the way. In the photo, I was picking up trash on the side of one of the trails at Woodward Park with my friend Haven.
