Coronado National Service Day
GC, Silverado, D28E
This was our first volunteering event of the year. JustServe hosted their ongoing blanket-making event in which volunteers make blankets that are donated to people in need. A promising 27 people put in the effort and helped out, which was a great way to kickstart the term. In all, JustServe was able to successfully compile over 3000 blankets. This event gave many members a taste of what community service is all about, and an opportunity to get to know one another. Overall, this event was a wholesome experience and brought everyone just a little bit closer.
Save the Turtles
EL, Temple City, D10N
Division 10 North’s Ninja Turtles won’t stop serving! On August 5th, 2023, members brought their recyclables to Temple City Park to sort through. All of us learned the various types of plastics, carefully sorting them into their respective trash bags. Shifts ran from 12-5pm, and any time that the recyclables began to run out was time spent for bonding and forming further relationships as a division. With over 14 members in attendance, over 40 service hours were achieved during this service event. Nearly 10 bags of sorted recyclables were donated to Sunset Recycling Center, and the event was a success! As summer wraps up, we hope to see an increase in services and interclubs, but no matter what happens, we’ll SEA you for another service soon.
BP National Night Out
IC, Sierra Vista, D35W
On August 1st, our members had the opportunity to help out at our city hall. Our members worked from 5:30-8PM, and we even had new members come out! We worked with the Baldwin Park Kiwanis to help hand out school supplies to the citizens of Baldwin Park. Some of the school supplies included folders, crayons, and color pencils. Our members even got to meet AssemblyWoman Rubio and had a great experience! It was a amazing way to start the month!
