Food Drive

JMP, Clairemont, D21

On August 12, 2023, The spirit of unity and community service was on full display as the Key Club members from Clairemont High came together with students from University City High and Mira Mesa High Schools for a heartwarming food drive. This collaborative effort showcased the power of youth to make a positive impact on the lives of those less fortunate. The idea for this remarkable food drive was born out of a shared commitment to serve the local community. Members of the Key Club from all three schools recognized the growing issue of food insecurity, especially among the homeless population in our area. Rather than working in isolation, they decided to pool their resources, time, and energy for a more significant impact. One of the most memorable aspects of the food drive was the giant produce container filled to the brim with onions. These onions, while abundant, required careful sorting to ensure that only the best-quality produce would make its way into the bags for the less fortunate. Beyond the act of sorting and packing food, the Key Club members demonstrated their commitment to cleanliness and organization. After the event, they didn't just walk away. Instead, they took the time to sweep up the onion skins that had fallen to the ground, leaving the area as clean as they had found it. They also wiped down the tables and surfaces used during the event, ensuring everything was in order. This event serves as a shining example of what can be achieved when everyone comes together with a shared goal of making the world a better place. It's a testament to the compassion, dedication, and responsibility of these Key Club members who are not only the leaders of tomorrow but also the changemakers of today.
