Beach Clean Up

TN, University, D04C

University Key Club hosted a beach cleanup at Newport Beach Pier 7. We had around seventeen Key Club members participate that morning. For around 2 hours, members walked across the beaches picking up trash in reusable bags to minimize plastic consumption. Many members traveled in pairs or small groups with their friends with board members overseeing them around the beach. Members found a multitude of interesting items, including a toothbrush, undergarments, and mini soldier figurines that piqued their interest. Some members even collected seashells as they came across them. Several people on the beach acknowledged our service as they cheered us on or clapped. At the end, we pooled all the trash together in one large trash bag to dispose of and took a group picture to document the service event. Overall, beach cleanups prove to be one of our popular events once again due to the naturally lively environment and aspect of discovery.
