Breakfast With Santa
RB, Vanguard College Prep, D46N
On the cool morning of December 7th, I and several Key Clubbers had the incredible opportunity to help with the annual Breakfast With Santa event at the Modesto Senior Center! While others focused on bussing tables or working with kids on crafts, I had the unique opportunity of being one of Santa’s elves! Throughout the day, I got to join in on taking photos, delivering the many letters to the mailboxes, and to overall act as an elf. All of this was done while I was dressed up in a very delightfully festive costume. It was truly a great start to the month.
Kiwanis Family Dance
JN, Pearl City, D22K
On the Friday night before Christmas, a chilly winter feeling drifted through the air and marked a special night for the Key Clubbers. ‘Twas an event to remember as the monthly Kiwanis Family Dance took place on December 20th. Pearl City Key Clubbers wasted no time to rush to the project and help out on their first day of winter break. As soon as they entered, members scrambled to get settled in their roles. While everyone was setting up Christmas lights and wall decorations, others welcomed the festive guests at the entrance. Once the lights switched off and the holiday jingles began, every single Key Clubber flooded the dance floor. Feeling the rhythm to the likes of Mariah Carey and Wham! has never felt so joyous! With the hands of Pearl City, Kailua, and Castle Key Club joining together, yet another fun dance was played well this fine holiday season.
Habitat Restoration
TD, D12S
I went to the habitat restoration event on 12/29 from 9:30am-12pm. During the event, I helped pick up trash and I even removed an invasive tree species. My favorite part from the event would probably be going on the boardwalk because there weren't as many bugs. I'm so so grateful I had the opportunity to improve the quality of the environment and connect with nature a little more. The staff helped me navigate around and were very enthusiastic about answering any questions. Overall, if it isn't raining, I would definitely do this event again!
Basketball Fundraiser
KS, Sierra Vista, D35W
Throughout the month of January, our club has fundraised by selling every Monday at our city's adult basketball league. With the help of members who signed up, we sold sodas, water, and chips. The money fundraised throughout the month will be used to help fund the fees for the upcoming 2025 - 2026 term and to help our school members pay their fees for attending the upcoming DCON. Participating in our city's basketball league games has been a great experience and an amazing opportunity to build a stronger bond with our community's employees and residents.
Night Market
DH, Ayala, D15W
I was ecstatic to participate in the Division Night Market, surrounded by the lively energy of so many Key Clubbers. Seeing members from different schools come together with such enthusiasm inspired me to fully embrace the experience and have fun. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as clubs showcased their creativity and dedication. Ayala, along with Chino Hills and Montclair, sold delicious cookies and stickers, adding to the marketplace. It was amazing to see everyone’s hard work come to life and the sense of unity among all the Key Clubbers made the night truly unforgettable.
