Card Making

AF, Claremont, D15N

On Tuesday, November 19th, we hosted a card making at our very own Claremont High School during lunch. This event served as a social event as well as a way to get some extra hours since it was also a potluck. Members brought cookies, pies, chips, and even 5 pounds of mac-and-cheese! Don't worry though, we didn't get our greasy fingers on these cards for the kids currently hospitalized at Casa Colina in Pomona. These cards contained heartfelt messages with turkeys and other cute doodles that helped cheer up some kids who may not be able to go home for the holidays this year.D15N CardMaking

Bingo Night

JN, D15S

During this month of December, our Key Club participated in the Bingo Night hosted by Kiwanis! Alongside members from our own club as well as nearby schools like Santiago, we came together to run this fun and engaging night this Saturday on December 12. Immense love and gratitude to our tireless volunteers who helped with tasks such as setting up the tables, and snacks, to tearing up the tickets! They were out working from 6-10 pm, but don’t worry, they were on shifts. A huge shout-out goes to our dedicated members, whose energy and enthusiasm made the evening special, and to Kiwanis for hosting such a fantastic night. Here's to many more opportunities to serve and create meaningful memories!D15S BingoNight

CITP Set Up

SR, Piedmont Hills, D12E

It was the beginning of Thanksgiving Break, and I arrived at Plaza de Cesar Chavez to help set up for Christmas in the Park. There, our job there was to create signs with the name of sponsors for the various Christmas trees scattered around the park. This was a pretty mundane task, in which Kyle, Dustin, and I formed an assembly line, passing around stakes and stapling the name of sponsors onto them. I felt like an elf from the repetitive task (and my height), working hard in Santa’s workshop. Eventually, after speeding through most of the signs, we switched to a drill to nail the more important sponsors’ signs. Although there were some difficulties with the drill, mostly due to Kyle’s skill issue (a defective drill), we quickly got all the signs done. After we had finished our job, we enjoyed coffee, donuts, and pizza. Overall, it was an extremely fun time, and I am excited to see you all at the Kiwanis Booth!

Christmas Ornaments

HF, D28N

As a festive send-off to wrap up the year and celebrate Christmas, we held a special activity following our general meeting where our members got creative and made their own paper ornaments! It was awesome to see the effort and creativity everyone put into their designs, which resulted in some very awesome and unique ornaments. We want to thank everyone who attended our meetings throughout the year and took part in our volunteering events. You've all contributed to making this year a success! We look forward to seeing you again next year, and in the meantime, we wish you all a Merry Christmas!

Middle School Visits

Cimarron-Memorial, D28W

During the month of November, Cimarron-Memorial Key Club joined all of our fellow clubs and made booths to represent our clubs for the middle schoolers visiting our campus. Cimarron's 3 feeder schools--Brinley, Molasky, and Becker Middle School--all came and visited our campus to prepare to become high schoolers. While the middle schoolers toured the campus and visited all of the classes, all of the extracurriculars and clubs made booths for the kids to come up to us and find out what activities they would like to pursue in High School. As for our Key Club in specific, we were able to tell many middle schoolers about our club and how it is an amazing idea to join in the future.
