Godinez Club Rush
K.N., Godinez, D04W
This year’s Club Rush was met with immense success as our club was set up with an
eye-attracting table filled with creative posters and fun activities for students to try out
such as a cut-out that they could take a picture with and post for when they signed up
for the club.
Our board members were welcoming and cheerful as many students were
interested in being a part of the community. Our interactive booth was filled with
curious students excited to be a part of the club, we were able to gain many new
members, many of which were underclassmen, and grow our Key Club community
here at Godinez which makes us excited to see how our club grows and develops as
we get further into the school year and even approach our annual Fall Rally South later
in November.
Sunny Hills Breast Cancer Awareness Bracelet Making
K.T., Sunny Hills, D30N
In the month of October, Sunny Hills Key Club was filled with different activities. We had a successful meeting where we went over collecting club dues, spirit nights, Fall Rally South, and our upcoming service project.
We had a ton of people show up. Also, we had our service project of the month. We partnered up with Creatives for Social Change Club (CSC) to make beaded bracelets to support breast cancer awareness.
The bracelets were full of a variety of pink beads, charms, and letter beads and were really fun to make! Finally, we attended the division spirit nights where we got to learn all of the new cheers for Fall Rally South!
Mid-Autumn Festival
ML, Rosemead, D10S
September is the month of the celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival. Every year, the street of Valley Blvd is closed down, and opens the annual Moon Festival Celebration. With such a big event comes great need of help! The Moon Festival Service event had a total of three shifts, and volunteers could earn a total of 12 service hours and 12 points. Our first shift was from 7:45 am to 12:00 pm. The second shift was from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Lastly, the third shift was from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Our Rosemead Key Clubbers began by helping set up the decorations all around the street. They hung up paper lanterns, as well as helped set up paper trash boxes for people to toss their trash in. Our volunteers help set up many backdrops for people to take pictures with. As things began settling, our volunteers helped guide people in need of help throughout the Moon Festival. At the end of the night, our key clubbers helped clean up the trash and dispose of the trash boxes and bags. Our volunteers took down the backdrops and lanterns spread throughout. This service event was filled with fun tasks, and exciting activities to help with, and all of us are so excited for next year’s Moon Festival!
