Indian Association of Northern Nevada Volunteering
NG, Damonte Ranch, D23
On May 24, 2024, the Key Club at Galena had an opportunity to volunteer at the Asian American stands in Reno’s downtown, specifically IANN’s, (Indian Association of Northern Nevada) stand. We helped set up and take down IANN’s stand, along with helping with sales, mainly selling Holi shirts and drinks. While we were there, we experienced other Asian cultures, specifically their dance and music, as there was a stage. We saw Chinese and Korean dances, and they saw Indian dances, all in one place. The switching between Indian Korean, and other music was quite interesting, as they are created very differently. I (Neel) am in the top left, and one of our vice presidents, Akhill, is in the 2 bottom photos, and our first-time secretary, Rithik, is in the top left. Here’s what he has to say about the secretary role: “Ever since becoming a secretary for Key Club, it’s been more work than I would’ve expected. However, being a secretary has opened my eyes to really what Key Club is all about. Key Club is such a great club as it helps our community on many beneficial things. Being allowed to do a multitude of projects and get volunteer hours for it has been more than great. Overall, I am excited about the future as a secretary for my club.”
