Skating Into Service
SN, Costa Mesa, D04C
Costa Mesa Key Club partnered with the Fountain Valley Skating Center to host a rollerskating socializing event and fundraiser for our club members. Our members had a lot of fun roller skating, dancing, and bonding together under bright rainbow colored lights and upbeat music. Our very own LTG, Tak Nashida, even showed up to participate and have fun with us! Most importantly, 25% of the event's proceeds went towards our club, allowing us to raise $172.50 for the Pediatric Trauma Program! It was a very successful club event where everyone got to form closer bonds with one another while simultaneously working towards raising money for a good cause.
Honolulu Zoo Peace Garden
AK, Damien Memorial, D22K
On October 21, the Damien Memorial Key Club helped out at the Honolulu Zoo. The members pulled weeds out of the Peace Garden, and cleaned up the dead leaves from the trees. They pulled the weeds so the plants would not be strangled by the weeds and weren’t competing for resources. In the end, members collected around a bag of weeds and dead foliage that needed to be removed. They also learned more about the plants that grow in the garden, from what the Native Hawaiians used for medicinal purposes and what were food staples on the islands at the time. The members had time to walk around the Zoo after they finished helping out weeding the garden. All the members enjoyed seeing the animals and took several pictures.
Fall Rally North
LD, Lincoln, D23
This is my first year of high school and Key Club. Meaning this was my first FRN ever! My first FRN was an amazing experience. I got to be with my closest friends, meet new people from other divisions, and be able to represent Division 23! The rally was super eventful, cheering, chanting, and seeing our LTG Izzy on stage! I can't wait for next year’s FRN and to see what the rest of my key club journey has in store for me. <3
Fall Rally South
IK, Crescenta Valley, D03N
My time at FRS was awesome! The rally seemed intimidating at first, but our division pulled through and we
had such a fun time cheering together. After the rally, we got to enjoy a fun day at the amusement park and made
new friendships with other key club members. Seeing the huge number of members at the park and spending the
day having fun was such a great experience, and I am so excited for next year’s fall rally! go polar bears!!!!
Trunk or Treat
JL, Antelope, D44W
Even though this is only our second time hosting the event, the Antelope Key Club Trunk or Treat is by far our club's biggest, most anticipated, and most well-known event in the Antelope community! This year, we were able to reel in over 500 citizens from the Antelope community to come collect candy and have a great time, viewing all the beautifully decorated car trunks!
Although our board put in a ton of effort into planning it out, this event would not have been possible without the help of our volunteers. With over 30 trunks present and about 3-5 students running each trunk, we had a total of over 100 Antelope High School students volunteering to build, decorate, and run their trunks for the 4-hour event. We also had 10 more Key Clubbers running general tasks, such as manning the check-in booth, distributing candy bags, directing children/families, etc.
Overall, the event was a huge success; We were able to garner over 400 hours of service for our Antelope students, as well as host a huge event to bring spirit and fun to the Antelope community!
