Santa Run
RC, Durango, D28S
Santa Run was a lot of fun! It was really great getting to cheer on the runners and see their enthusiasm as they kept going. Even though we lost our voices, it was definitely worth it to see the excitement from the runners! (Plus, we brought cough drops so our voices wouldn't die too much >:) ) It was also cool seeing all the pets during the run, and I remember one guy who came up to hug and take a picture with our group. We were also able to enjoy the after-party, which was a nice way to celebrate the end of a great event! :)
Food Drive
CB, Academy of Academic Excellence, D38E
Food banks are one of the events that Key Club has supported. I believe it to be a very good opportunity, and given my experience with food banks, I would do it again without a doubt. Speaking with so many individuals and assisting them in making purchases was a lot of fun. Since I also assisted with stocking up on supplies, it was intriguing to watch what went on behind the scenes at this organization. I had a terrific time learning how to work with such a lovely business as well.
Writing Holiday Cards to the Elderly
AF, Orange Vista, D37N
On December 5th, Orange Vista’s Key Club started the festive season on the right foot through the cheerful task of writing holiday cards to the elderly! Several of our amazing members came together and took their time to write kind and thoughtful messages to spread cheer and joy this holiday season. The event was followed by another event where our club delivered these cards in person to the residents of WellQuest in Menifee Lakes. For those who may not have been fortunate enough to have family by their side this season, our spirits made it their job to make sure everyone felt loved and appreciated.
Rose Bowl Parade
EK, Rancho Bernardo, D37S
On New Year's Eve, various Key Club divisions came together and volunteered at the Rose Bowl Parade. There was a large supply of different jobs given to us when we arrived. Some jobs included transporting buckets of flowers across the venue or helping place flowers onto the floats. My personal favorite job was making the flower pins that were used to decorate the floats. Although it was a little tiring because we had to wake up early, I still enjoyed my time regardless.
Crab Feed
ZQ, Grace Davis, D46N
On Saturday, January 14th, there was a Crab Feed that one of our local Kiwanis clubs helped put on. It was located at the American Graffiti Museum from 5-8 and we did various tasks such as serving, helping with auctions, and greeting people as they entered. There rush the entire night since there were so many people and we had to get everything done on time. This experience was very fun and I got to talk to the Kiwanians and people that attended for the dinner.
