La Verne Grand Prix

NK, BHS, D35E

I have been cycling as a sport and hobby for several years now, so I was so excited when I heard that Key Club would be volunteering at a bike race. Even better, it was local, so I would not have to drive for 30 minutes as I do for other events. The event did not disappoint; watching the La Verne Grand Prix while earning service and helping the race run smoothly was great. For a few hours, Josh and I stood on the road guiding cars that needed to cross the course. It was interesting to run after cars to yell at them to let them know not to enter the course. Because I had brought my bike, I was also tasked with delivering water and messages to other volunteers stationed around the course. Pizza and donuts were also bought for us in the afternoon, but I had already bought tacos from a taco van, which were amazing. And of course, it was greatly rewarding to see all our hard work make the race possible.
