Fall: Pumpkins, Apple Cider, and...Key Club

Hillcrest High School Key Club kicked off the fall months of October and November with many service projects!

Hillcrest Fall

The project was to fundraise for UNICEF, which would donate the funds to mothers and children in need of tetanus shots. Key Club officers toted small, orange boxes around school with them, asking for donations, and managed to fundraise over one hundred dollars!

As October came to an end, Key Clubbers managed to spread the Halloween Spirit at Downtown Riverside’s Ghost Run on October 23rd and 24th. Our little penguins had to set up and take down the event. They even put their tour guide hats on and led groups through the different areas of Downtown Riverside. Upon arriving at the locations, there were small skits that Poly High School had set up for the ghost runners to watch. That same weekend, Key Clubbers also volunteered at Riverside’s Bacon Run! At the Bacon Run, Key Club members passed out free bacon, water, t-shirts, and medals to the runners, ending October with two unforgettable volunteer events!

Chugging into November, Key Clubbers helped children’s dreams come true at the Thomas the Train event. In the Imagination Station, children let their creativity run wild with Key Clubbers helping hand out coloring pages, bandages, and cleaning up after the messy children. At the tattoo booth, volunteers helped the kids express their love for their favorite train by applying temporary tattoos to the children’s faces and arms. Overall, it was a great, fun-filled day for the volunteers, parents, and children alike!

Of course, with the fall season comes Fall Rally! HHS Key Club and all of Division 6 North have been preparing tirelessly for this huge event! Key Club Officers have been preparing schedules and rule books for members, selling Division t-shirts, and selling Fall Rally tickets for weeks. On November 13, HHS Key Club will be attending Fall Rally Prep at Eleanor Roosevelt High School to learn the D6N cheers and take home the Fall Rally spirit stick for our division once more!
